Editorial & AI Policy

This page explains how Kalasuara produces the news and how artificial intelligence (AI) is used responsibly in our workflow.

Journalistic standards

Kalasuara abides by Law No. 40 of 1999 on the Press, the Journalistic Code of Ethics, and the Cyber Media Reporting Guidelines set by the Indonesian Press Council (Dewan Pers). We are committed to accuracy, verification, balance, the presumption of innocence, and source protection.

How we use AI

In line with Press Council Regulation No. 1 of 2025 on Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Journalistic Work, we apply the following principles:

  • Full human control. AI assists with research, drafting, and translation, but every piece is reviewed and approved by the Kalasuara editorial team before publication.
  • Editorial responsibility. Whatever role AI plays, responsibility for the content rests entirely with the press organisation.
  • Transparency. We openly state that some articles are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by editors.
  • Fact-checking. Claims and data are verified against trustworthy sources before publishing.

Production flow & oversight

Every article passes through the following stages before any reader sees it:

  1. Research — topics are chosen from developing stories and verified against at least three credible sources.
  2. Editing + originality gate — the draft is rewritten into an original piece, then scored; writing that is not original or high-quality enough is rejected and never published.
  3. Fact-check — claims and quotes are re-checked against sources. Articles that fail the fact-check are held (hidden from the site) until corrected.
  4. Bilingual adaptation — the English version is written as a faithful adaptation, not a raw translation.
  5. Human review & publishing — articles start hidden (noindex). Only a human editor decides to publish them publicly. The AI pipeline never publishes on its own.

Our daily volume is kept reasonable (a target of around 10 articles) with editor oversight on every publication — we do not produce mass content without review.

Sourcing and attribution

We strive to cite sources on every report. Quotes and data from third parties are attributed as clearly as possible.

Corrections and right of reply

We uphold the principle of correction. If you spot an error, or wish to exercise your right of reply or correction, contact us via the Contact page. Significant corrections will be marked openly on the relevant article.

Dispute resolution

Reporting disputes are resolved through the mechanisms of the Indonesian Press Council (Dewan Pers) in accordance with applicable rules.
